Top Mistakes to Avoid When Washing Your Car at Home

Most of us take our cars to car washes instead of washing them at home like we did 50 years ago. There are some good reasons to use a car wash, such as home water restrictions and the risk of chemical compounds rinsed off your car winding up in the water table. Nevertheless, if you wash your car at home, we would like to give you some tips for doing a good job in today’s blog article.
The Sun
Try to wash your car in the shade instead of in direct sunlight on a hot day. If you wash your car in direct sunlight, the water will evaporate quickly, and you will wind up with lots of soap stains and streaks. You will get a much better result if you wash in the shade.
Tools
Use the right tools so you do not damage the finish. Use a microfiber cloth on the exterior of your car. Using brushes and sponges not designed for car washing risk damaging the paint finish. Be sure to rinse your cloth well each time you wipe the vehicle to avoid wiping the paint with grit or sand or dirt and scratching the finish.
Dry the Vehicle
When you are finished washing, dry the vehicle with a cloth designed for that such as a chamois which will give you a streak-free finish. Do not use rough towels which will not give you a good result, and do not just leave the vehicle to drip dry or you will have spots in the finish.
