Community Support

Shine Autowash is proudly local - Vancouver, Burnaby, and Coquitlam born and run. We think being part of a neighbourhood means more than sharing a postal code, so this is where we highlight the local businesses, community initiatives, and grassroots teams we're glad to support. Big or small, if it makes our corner of Metro Vancouver a better place to live, we want to be behind it.

Health & Well-Being:

BC Children's Hospital Foundation
BC Children's Hospital is the only facility of its kind in the province, caring for the sickest kids from across BC and the Yukon - and it's consistently ranked among the top pediatric hospitals in the world. The Foundation raises the funds that drive its research, treatments, and specialized care.

Why we support them: Because families come to Metro Vancouver from every corner of the province when their child needs BC Children's, and supporting the place that gives those kids a fighting chance is about as local - and as important - as it gets.

Canadian Cancer Society
As Canada's largest national cancer charity, the Canadian Cancer Society funds research, provides support services for people living with cancer and their families, and works on prevention and public health.

Why we support them: Cancer touches nearly every family we know, our staff and customers included. Backing the research and the support services behind it is a cause that needs no explanation.

Music Heals Charitable Foundation
A Vancouver-based charity that funds certified music therapy - using music to support physical and mental health for children with disabilities, seniors living with Alzheimer's, patients in hospices, and more. To date they've directed millions of dollars toward music therapy across BC and Canada.

Why we support them: It's a uniquely local charity doing something genuinely creative - turning music into real care for people who need it. That's exactly the kind of quietly impactful work we like to stand behind.

Vancouver Rape Relief & Women's Shelter
Established in 1973, this is Canada's longest-running rape crisis centre. They operate a free, confidential 24-hour crisis line and an emergency shelter for women and children escaping violence, along with advocacy and peer support.

Why we support them: Front-line services like a crisis line and an emergency shelter are the kind of support a community can't do without. We're glad to help a Vancouver organization that's been doing this essential work for over fifty years.

Health Youth, Sports & the Outdoors:

Coquitlam Adanacs Lacrosse
The Adanacs are Coquitlam's box lacrosse team, playing in BC's Western Lacrosse Association since 1965 - Mann Cup champions and a fixture at the Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex. They're a genuine piece of local sporting history, and Canada's game at that.

Why we support them: They're a hometown team. Supporting local lacrosse in the community where we operate is exactly the kind of grassroots sport this page is about - and it doesn't get more rooted than a Coquitlam club that's been at it for sixty years.

Scouts Canada
Scouts Canada gives kids and youth the chance to lead their own adventures - building confidence, leadership, teamwork, and lifelong friendships through hands-on, youth-led activities and time in the outdoors.

Why we support them: Programs that put kids in charge of their own growth build the kind of confident, capable people every neighbourhood benefits from. Supporting local youth is at the heart of what this page is about.

Chill Foundation
Chill inspires young people through boardsports - snowboarding, skateboarding, surfing, and SUP - with a mission to build a more equitable outdoor community. Their programs are free to youth and run right here in Vancouver, using board sports to build resilience and belonging.

Why we support them: It's youth development with a local footprint and a genuinely fresh approach - getting kids on boards, at no cost, and helping them find their footing on and off the mountain. We're all in on that.

Education, Arts & Culture:

BARAGA
BARAGA (Burnaby and Region Allotment Gardens Association) runs Western Canada's largest allotment gardens, giving members plots to grow their own food while building community around them. They're an environmental award winner, and every week from June through October they donate fresh produce to the local food bank.

Why we support them: It's about as grassroots as it gets - literally. A Burnaby institution that gets people growing food, sharing the surplus with neighbours in need, and caring for green space in our own backyard. That's community we're happy to help take root.

Its focus is on girls' education and leadership, guided by a motto that captures the spirit well: Not for Ourselves Alone. Why we support them: A 90-year-old Vancouver institution built on giving young women the confidence and tools to lead is exactly the kind of long-term investment in our community's future we're glad to get behind. Their own motto says it better than we could.
